Hey music lovers and photography enthusiasts! Let me introduce myself – I'm Tara Lenehan, and I'm living proof that chasing your passions can lead you to some pretty incredible places. My story starts not on a fancy set with high-end gear, but in the dimly lit magic of a high school darkroom. Back then, armed with a thirst for knowledge, a few cheap cameras (think garage sale finds), and a whole lot of curiosity, I spent countless hours experimenting with film and light. There was something undeniably captivating about the process – the anticipation of what would appear on the paper after the chemical bath, the thrill of capturing a fleeting moment in time.
But for me, photography wasn't just about capturing landscapes or still life. My heart belonged to music. The raw energy of a live performance, the way music connects us all, it's something truly special. So, the logical next step (at least for my music-obsessed soul) was to combine these two loves. I wasn't ready to burn out doing wedding photography - I knew I had to combine my passions in order for a long, sustainable career in photography. I wanted a chance to be right there, in the pit, capturing the electrifying energy of a live show, Back then, it wasn't about the money, it was about the experience, the access, the pure joy of merging these two passions.
Fast forward to today, and I'm lucky enough to call myself a published music photographer. I've worked for multiple magazine, including an incredible gig with People Magazine covering Bottle Rock Music Festival. My career is a testament to the power of following your heart, of putting yourself out there, and of using your skills in a way that makes you excited to jump out of bed every morning. On this blog, I want to share my experiences, tips, and even some behind-the-scenes secrets from the world of concert photography. I'm all about learning from others and building community around like-minded people - so where are all my music lovers and photography enthusiasts?! Because we're about to delve into a world of flashing lights, electrifying performances, and the raw emotions that music captures in a single frame. Let's get started!
